Tournament in memory of Nikolay Genov in Novopolotsk

The traditional international water ski tournament  in memory of Nicolay Genov had place in Novopolotsk the 20-21 of February.  Once again it has demonstrated the excellent training and skill of our athletes.

The tournament in memory of the founder of  the strongest water-skiing school in the world and renowned coach of Belarus, Nicolay Genov was held  for the eighth time. But this time it had  a new level -  this year  tournament acquired  an official international status. The participation in tournament took athletes from Belarus, Slovakia, Poland, Russia and Ukraine.

Before the tournament was held Nicolay Genov was awarded a certificate of the International Water Ski Federation. It verified  the establishment of   a new world record (9080 points) by Natalia Bernikova, Nicolay Genov's pupil.

Such great result she showed in the U.S. On  the 31 of October last year.

On the competition Novopolotsk's athletes in all age categories showed   triumphant performances. They have won 15 prizes  of 18. So they  repeated the result of last year's tournament.

The best in junior category  were Ekaterina Kiseleva and Artyom Morozov. Among adults - Maria Veremchuk and Nikita Papakul. Just in the group of veterans women from Novopolotsk lost to  Marina Basinskaya.

But the head of the department of physical education, sport and tourism of Novopolotsk  Vyacheslav Durnov showed the best result, as in past years.
