In August, 2007, the group of former water skiers decided to establish private club "Sentosa".
Actually, that meeting may be considered as the beginning of former strong Dnepropetrovsk water-ski traditions resurrection. For example, in 1980 there were 5 water-ski sections in the city. Up to 50 sportsmen of different age and levels took part in city contest. With the laps of time, disorder of the USSR and "Reorganization" consequences, sports sections in Nikolaev, Odessa, Kharkov, Lvov, Dnepropetrovsk, Kremenchug and Kiev folded up . The water-ski stadiums as well as the equipment were destroyed, trainers have changed their job.
To prevent the collapse of water-ski traditions, we organized the "Sentosa" club, held first young water skiers admission, invited trainers from Belarus. On restored water-ski stadium the summer base with residing possibility, special training apparatus, lifts for boats, utility rooms was constructed. We use only professional boats, lines, a springboard and skis, produced by leading manufacturers.
I hope those efforts we put for water skiing restoration will contribute to this kind of sports development in other regions of Ukraine. We are ready to help all enthusiasts to develop this fine kind of sports in their cities.
