Ukraine OPEN 2009

In August, 14 – 16 Dnipropetrovsk will hold water-ski championship Ukraine Open, initiated  and organized by the water-ski club “Sentosa” (Dnipropetrovsk).

The arrangement of such a level and scale is for the first time in Dnipropetrovsk. Ukraine will involve water-ski sportsmen from the USA, Canada, New Zealand, Great Britain, France, Austria, Poland, Slovakia, Russia, Belorussia – in general about 60 sportsmen. Among them there will be “stars” of water-ski sport, taking first positions in the world rating: Jaret Llewellyn (Canada), Scot Ellis (the USA), Kyle Eade (New Zealand), Nikolas Lefiorestier (France), Alex Lauretano (the USA), the nightmare of all the water-ski sportsmen in the world – Freddy Krueger (the USA) and other. Along with the stars juniors will participate in the competition.

The tournament will be held in three categories: figure skating, slalom and ski-jump.
Chief umpire of the championship will be the representative of the World Water-ski Federation Kuno Richard. Besides, referee's functions during the competition will be performed by the qualified umpires Elena Kunert (Slovakia), Inessa Potes (Belorussia), Emanuel Lion (Austria), Michael Mos (Poland), Leonid Gubarenko (Russia). The calculation of the results will be made by Paolo Barberry Arnaldi (Italy) and Sergei Selivanov (Belorussia). The developments of the championship will be commented on by Marina Basinskaiia, twenty-six fold champion in water-ski figure skating whose record was unexcelled till this year.
The founders report that Ukraine Open is the claim for the further holding of world water-ski championships in Ukraine. – We are sure that such a bright sport event as Ukraine Water-ski Open will open a new page in the development of this kind of sport in our country, revive Dnipropetrovsk’s just status of “water-ski capital” of Ukraine, present its residents and guests an enchanting sports sight, - points out the director of water-ski club “Sentosa” Andrei Mihailichenko. – The pledge of it is the “star staff” of participants and referees, excellent technological and organizational basis of the club “Sentosa” which is the organizer of the competition and also enthusiasm and belief in their work of the leading Dnipropetrovsk waterski sportsmen who initiated the holding of these competitions. We are convinced to succeed and hope that in the nearest few years we will organize European Water-ski Junior Competition in Dnipropetrovsk.
